APPLICATION

1.2085 steel is a high-chromium alloy tool steel, with its elevated chromium content providing exceptional corrosion resistance, making it particularly suitable for humid or chemically corrosive environments. It is commonly used in plastic molds and precision industrial components.  In its pre-hardened state upon delivery, 1.2085 steel can be directly machined, reducing heat treatment costs while maintaining excellent cutting and polishing properties, enabling mirror-finished surfaces. This steel is widely employed in industries such as electronics, automotive components, and food machinery.

1.2085 steel optimizes cutting performance through sulfur element, supports efficient milling, turning and other processing methods, and the vacuum degassing process ensures the internal purity of the material. Compared with ordinary mold steel, the lifespan of 1.2085 steel is significantly improved in humid or chemical environments, but its polishing performance is weaker, making it more suitable for mold frame or insert applications with lower surface requirements. Typical applications of 1.2085 steel include precision injection molding scenarios such as optical instrument molds and LED bracket forming.

1.2085 Physical and Mechanical Properties of Steel

Corrosion resistance: superior to most general mold steels, it performs outstandingly in acidic plastics (such as fluoropolymers) and humid environments.
Pre hardened state: Factory hardness of 230 HBS, can be directly processed, reducing subsequent heat treatment costs.
Strength and toughness: Tensile strength 905-1100 MPa, yield strength ≥ 905 MPa, elongation of about 10%.
Thermal stability: Optimized thermal expansion coefficient to maintain dimensional stability at high temperatures.

1.2085 Steel Heat Treatment Process
Annealing: 850 – 880 ℃ slow cooling, hardness ≤ 230 HBS, optimized processing performance.
Quenching: Oil cooled at 1000-1050 ℃, with a basic hardness of 48 HRC.
Tempering: Temperature range of 150-550 ℃, adjustable hardness and toughness.

1.2085 Steel Application Fields
Plastic molds: Corrosive plastic (such as PVC, polyamide) molding molds, especially suitable for high-precision or humid environments.
Industrial components: components that require corrosion resistance and wear resistance, such as food machinery and automotive parts.
Electronic appliances: Precision component molds for smartphone frames, laptop casings, and other related parts.

1.2085 Steel Processing Performance
It can be processed through conventional processes such as milling, turning, and drilling, and sulfur element can improve cutting efficiency.
Excellent polishing performance, reaching mirror level surface, suitable for high-end electronic product molds.
